Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Ch 9-12

[00:00:01] You kick it off this one! Welcome to the podcast, I'm Lizzy and I'm Jon and this is Harry Potter and the Second Time Reader. Okay we're doing chapters 9-12. Yay! And they're good chapters. I'm excited to talk about Creature Yourself because that's one of my faves. I love that chapter. But let's start with chapter 9 which is A Place to Hide. I'll give the summaries this time.

[00:00:40] This one is essentially they're just looking for a place to spot and hide and they find 12 Grim Old Place and they kind of regroup in 12 Grim Old Place. Not much else happens outside of that. Am I right? I don't know. Am I right or am I right? Suddenly I don't trust your summaries. Take control back. But the first thing is first and this is one discussion that they have. So the last chapter ends, you know, the minister is dead. They get out of there real quick.

[00:01:15] they talked about 12 Grim Old Place and the safety of 12 Grim Old Place.

[00:01:19] Do you really think that it's a safe spot?

[00:01:51] and they got

[00:01:52] found out at this cafe by Death Eaters.

[00:01:58] I don't know because they

[00:02:02] it wasn't the trace. Yeah.

[00:02:04] Yeah. Can't be the trace.

[00:02:06] Yeah. But that was so fast.

[00:02:08] Like it was they were

[00:02:09] on them immediately.

[00:02:12] I was freaking out when that was happening.

[00:02:14] I was like they're attacking each other.

[00:02:16] Ah.

[00:02:17] Then the illuminator came in.

[00:02:20] But

[00:02:22] maybe one of the paintings

[00:02:24] in the building said something

[00:02:28] they came from the borough right?

[00:02:30] Yeah they couldn't have.

[00:02:31] Yeah.

[00:02:31] So there's no

[00:02:34] maybe Voldemort's watching

[00:02:35] from inside Harry's mind.

[00:02:39] I feel like I don't have any options

[00:02:41] or things that it could be.

[00:02:43] It's a good possibility.

[00:02:45] Unless if like some object

[00:02:47] that's like on them

[00:02:51] jinxed

[00:02:52] or like traced

[00:02:53] and then it just follows them.

[00:02:54] Or maybe the wand

[00:02:56] has like a magic

[00:02:58] GPS in it.

[00:02:59] But the wand

[00:03:00] kind of is the trace.

[00:03:02] So like if you're doing magic

[00:03:04] it's kind of traced

[00:03:05] by the wand.

[00:03:06] The trace is a little strange.

[00:03:12] into his mind there

[00:03:13] and Voldemort's like

[00:03:47] what are we going to do with them?

[00:03:48] Ron whispered to Harry

[00:03:49] through the dark

[00:03:50] and even more quietly

[00:03:51] kill them?

[00:03:52] They'd kill us.

[00:03:54] They had a good

[00:03:55] go just now.

[00:03:57] Hermione shuddered

[00:03:58] and took a step backwards.

[00:03:59] Harry shook his head.

[00:04:00] We just need to wipe their memories

[00:04:03] It'll throw them off the scent.

[00:04:05] If we kill them

[00:04:05] it'd be obvious we were here.

[00:07:39] that's Mad Eyes

[00:07:39] magic so it's like

[00:07:41] staying.

[00:07:41] Yeah which is

[00:07:42] that was the one

[00:07:43] I was thinking of

[00:07:44] yeah because you

[00:07:44] asked that last

[00:07:45] podcast about like

[00:07:46] can your magic stay

[00:07:47] or can it not

[00:07:48] and I was thinking

[00:07:49] specifically of this

[00:07:50] one where it seems

[00:07:51] to be his magic

[00:07:52] and it's sticking

[00:07:53] around after he

[00:07:54] dies.

[00:08:02] feels like a normal

[00:08:06] thing comes up.

[00:08:17] the beginning like they

[00:08:18] don't trust it and then

[00:08:19] by the end of it it's

[00:08:19] like completely clean and

[00:08:22] they're like operating and

[00:08:24] disapparating like it's

[00:08:25] nothing.

[00:08:26] I really like that.

[00:08:29] I think it's cool but

[00:08:31] yeah I mean it feels like

[00:08:32] safe enough right now

[00:08:33] because there's death

[00:08:34] eaters outside and

[00:08:34] they're not coming in but

[00:08:35] I mean they're definitely

[00:08:36] nervous of Snape or

[00:08:38] anybody else who can

[00:08:38] possibly come in and

[00:08:40] like infiltrate but they

[00:08:41] definitely do seem a

[00:08:42] little safe at least

[00:08:42] safe for now.

[00:08:46] And they don't I think

[00:08:47] as soon as they know for

[00:08:48] sure that they're in that

[00:08:50] house then they're

[00:08:51] unsafe but I think

[00:08:53] they're just on like

[00:08:53] general monitoring of

[00:08:55] all of these places

[00:08:56] right now.

[00:08:57] Yeah.

[00:09:01] Yeah.

[00:09:01] I mean this chapter is

[00:09:03] like very much a

[00:09:04] transitional chapter.

[00:09:04] They don't have a ton of

[00:09:05] dialogue but a bunch of

[00:09:06] weird stuff happens in

[00:09:07] this and like you're a

[00:09:08] little unsettled because

[00:09:09] they just kind of had this

[00:09:09] little they fled the

[00:09:12] scene of this little

[00:09:13] potential fight that was

[00:09:14] popping up and they you

[00:09:15] know go to all these

[00:09:16] places that they're not

[00:09:17] sure of.

[00:09:18] But then at the end of

[00:09:19] this chapter they finally

[00:09:20] find out this family

[00:09:21] safe.

[00:09:22] They say do not reply we

[00:09:23] are being washed and it's

[00:09:23] like thrown with a

[00:09:24] with a silver patronus in

[00:09:26] the air.

[00:09:29] Where it solidified into

[00:09:30] the weasel that spoke the

[00:09:31] voice of Ron's father.

[00:09:32] I love that Mr.

[00:09:34] Weasley's patronus is a

[00:09:35] weasel.

[00:09:35] It's so great to me.

[00:09:38] But yeah nothing really

[00:09:40] else happens in this.

[00:09:44] Yeah.

[00:09:45] Do you have anything else

[00:09:46] that I really want to talk

[00:09:47] about the next chapter.

[00:09:48] The next chapter is the

[00:09:48] most interesting one to me.

[00:09:50] I'd like there's some good

[00:09:51] lines in this chapter.

[00:09:52] I like this line.

[00:09:53] The only thing that was

[00:09:54] out of place was the

[00:09:55] troll's leg umbrella stand

[00:09:56] which was lying on its

[00:09:57] side as if Tonks had

[00:09:58] knocked it over again.

[00:10:03] Little tidbits of Tonks.

[00:10:04] I love that.

[00:10:08] Anyway.

[00:10:09] Yeah there's there's

[00:10:10] there's some good lines

[00:10:11] in here.

[00:10:13] Okay.

[00:10:14] Chapter 10.

[00:10:15] Creature's Tale.

[00:10:16] This is one of the most

[00:10:17] fascinating chapters to me.

[00:10:20] But this is essentially just

[00:10:21] Creature kind of giving the

[00:10:22] download information of what

[00:10:24] he did in the cave.

[00:10:28] And he finds the letter.

[00:10:30] Yeah.

[00:10:31] The letter and then he cried.

[00:10:33] The letter is brutal.

[00:10:34] Oh so I was like not prepared

[00:10:36] for that.

[00:10:37] Yeah.

[00:10:37] And then the whole thing about

[00:10:38] the G's being the same and the

[00:10:40] handwriting.

[00:10:41] Yeah.

[00:10:42] Oh my heart.

[00:10:43] When I was rereading this a few

[00:10:44] like weeks ago this was a

[00:10:47] chapter that that I didn't

[00:10:50] really remember.

[00:10:50] I mean I always liked this

[00:10:52] chapter.

[00:10:52] I remembered it was definitely

[00:10:53] like my top five.

[00:10:54] I don't know.

[00:10:55] But I remember reading it and

[00:10:57] like Harry's realization of

[00:10:59] the letter and like the how

[00:11:00] he made the same like tease or

[00:11:02] something like that is.

[00:11:03] Cheese.

[00:11:04] Yeah.

[00:11:05] Like it's the smallest little

[00:11:06] stuff that she's good at

[00:11:08] putting in her writing and it

[00:11:10] just made me well up.

[00:11:11] It's a great little section

[00:11:12] of writing here.

[00:11:15] way he did.

[00:11:16] He searched through the letter

[00:11:16] for every one of them and each

[00:11:18] felt like a friendly little

[00:11:19] wave glimpsing from behind a

[00:11:21] veil.

[00:11:27] But the content of the letter I

[00:11:29] want to talk about the content

[00:11:30] of the letter real quick.

[00:11:31] It says this.

[00:11:36] It was his favorite by far.

[00:11:37] One year old and already zooming

[00:11:39] along on a toy broomstick.
